Known for their intelligent and friendly dispositions, Border Collies are an extremely popular breed that are happy as a family pet or a working dog. These medium-sized dogs will stand between 45 and 55cm tall and live up to about 15 years.
The Border Collie is affectionate, playful, active and highly intelligent, making them ideal as a herding dog, or as the pet for the active family. They will require a lot of interactive engagement, contact and exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviours. They are still growing and developing until about 18 months of age, so no strenuous activity until after that time. That said, this dog will do almost anything for its family, with their high intellect training and interactivity is important. Therefore many Border Collie owners include agility in their training regime. Friendly and fun-loving, this breed is a great pet for the active family.
