Labrador

Originally bred as a hunting dog, the Labrador has found its way into society as a loyal companion and a working dog in various fields. Their intelligence and even temperament make them the ideal choice for Guide Dogs and Assistance Dogs. Their keen sense of smell, agility and intelligence also makes them a valued Tracking and Sniffer Dog used by Police and Rescue teams.

As a pet, the Labrador is a very loyal, kind and fun-loving dog. Labradors are great as a house dog as they are very obedient but they will need to know what is expected of them from a young age as they can be quite clumsy and tend to knock things off low tables. Labradors are great with families and like to be included in activities. In the same token, they are just as happy living with the elderly as companion dogs.

Bark Collars For Labradors

Generally we see greater success when using a static/electric bark collar for labrador owners.  A citronella bark collar may be an option for some labrador owners.  However only if yours has a quiet temperament and not running when barking.  We have some customers that have had success with citronella collars, but on the whole an electric barking collar is far more likely to provide a successful outcome.  Do not consider vibration or ultrasonic anti-bark collars for an adult labrador.

As with all Dogs if you have a young pup under 8 months or a dog over 10 years we suggest you call us for expert advice.
