As a sled dog breed, they have a lot of energy and endurance to spare so they need an owner/family with an active lifestyle to keep up with their daily needs. Huskies are rather difficult to train and are not well suited to first-time dog owners. They require firm leadership from their owners and 100% consistency with boundaries and rule enforcement. As with most dogs, you will only get out what you put in. Huskies are the Houdini of the dog world and they have been known to escape through fences, screen doors, garages and other holding devices.
