DogWatch Solar-Powered Dog Containment Fence with Battery Backup
The DogWatch solar-powered containment fence is a purpose-built solution for properties where mains power isn’t available. It delivers the trusted performance DogWatch is known for, with many of the same core features found in the DogWatch 1200FMD premium system, but with a different power setup designed for certain situations.
This system allows a rechargeable battery and a solar panel to connect to the transmitter, allowing the fence to operate during the day on solar power while simultaneously charging the battery. At night, or during low-light conditions, the system automatically runs from the battery — no manual switching required.
Premium DogWatch Performance — Without Mains Power
From a containment and training perspective, this system performs much like the 1200FMD:
- Reliable, interference-free FM radio signal
- Adjustable containment and correction levels (small and timid to large and stubborn)
- UV-Protected Boundary Wire
- Proven boundary control
Important: This System Is Not for Everyone
If you have mains power available — even if it's 50 metres away — a mains-powered DogWatch system is still the better option. Mains-powered systems are simpler, more reliable, and require less infrastructure overall.
The solar-powered system is best suited for:
- Properties with no mains power at all
- Blocking off gateways or driveways hundreds of metres from power
- A portable camping setup (if no inverter available)
