X-Series collars can be mixed and matched

Dogtra X-Series systems are cross-compatible. This is useful if you have different sized dogs or different training needs in the same household.

The handheld remote is mainly what determines the range. The receiver collar is mainly what determines the fit, output strength and suitability for each dog.

Which Dogtra X-Series model should you buy?

For smaller dogs or the least bulky setup

Choose the Dogtra 280X. It has the smallest receiver in this comparison and enough output for many small to medium dogs doing general obedience, recall and off-lead work.

For the best all-rounder

Choose the Dogtra ARC-X. It gives you the 1200m range of the 1900X, but with a slimmer, lighter receiver that suits more dogs for everyday use.

For stubborn, powerful or high-drive dogs

Choose the Dogtra 1900X. It has the strongest output strength and most robust receiver, making it the better option for large dogs, working dogs and dogs that ignore lower-output collars.

For multiple dogs

Consider an X-Series mixed setup. You can use different receivers on different dogs, so each dog gets the collar size and output strength that actually suits them.

Dogtra X-Series FAQs

What is the main difference between the 280X, ARC-X and 1900X?
The main differences are collar size, receiver weight, output strength and range. The 280X is the most compact, the ARC-X is slim with longer range, and the 1900X is the high-output option for stronger or more stubborn dogs.
Is the Dogtra 280X or ARC-X strong enough for a large stubborn dog?
The 280X and ARC-X will be strong enough for many large dogs, but if your dog is a particularly tolerant breed or has a high prey drive, you may find the 1900X is more effective.
Should I choose the ARC-X or 1900X?
The ARC-X will cover most dogs, it is rare that any dog will exceed it's output strength. The 1900X has a higher output for the most headstong/tolerant breeds with extreme prey drive.
Can I use one Dogtra X-Series remote with different collar models?
Yes. X-Series systems are designed to be compatible with each other, allowing you to mix receivers based on each dog’s size and training needs.
Are Dogtra X-Series collars bark collars?
No. The Dogtra 280X, ARC-X and 1900X are remote training collars. They only activate when the handler presses the remote. They do not automatically detect or correct barking.
Can I attach a lead to the e-collar strap?
No. Do not attach a lead to the e-collar strap. Use a separate flat collar or harness for lead attachment.

Need help choosing the right Dogtra X-Series collar?

Match the collar to the dog first: size, temperament, drive level and range requirement matter more than simply buying the strongest model.
