Once connected to your home Wi-Fi, the My PetSafe app lets you create and adjust feeding schedules, change portion sizes and use the Feed Now function to dispense an additional meal or snack. Multiple family members can access the feeder through the same PetSafe account.
Customise Up to 12 Meals Every Day
Feeding the right amount at consistent times can be difficult with a busy schedule. The PetSafe Smart Feed can automatically dispense up to 12 individual meals per day, giving you extensive control over when and how much your pet eats.
Individual meal portions can be set from approximately 29 mL up to 946 mL, making the feeder suitable for a wide range of feeding routines for cats and small to medium-sized dogs.
This flexibility can be particularly useful for pets that are better suited to several smaller meals throughout the day instead of one or two large meals.
Slow Feed for Fast Eaters
If your cat or dog tends to eat their food too quickly, activate the Slow Feed setting. Meals larger than the minimum portion are dispensed gradually in smaller amounts over approximately 15 minutes, rather than dropping the entire meal at once.
Low Food & Empty Alerts
Built-in food sensors monitor the hopper and can send notifications to your smartphone when food is running low or the feeder is empty. This provides an extra level of reassurance when relying on the feeder for your pet's regular meals.
Suitable for Dry and Semi-Moist Pet Food
The Smart Feed uses PetSafe's conveyor-style dispensing system, designed to reliably move food from the hopper into the bowl while helping minimise food jams.
Unlike many basic automatic cat feeders, the Smart Feed can dispense both dry kibble and compatible semi-moist pet food, providing greater flexibility when choosing your pet's diet.
Large 5.7 Litre Food Hopper
The feeder holds approximately 5,678 mL of pet food, reducing the need to refill the hopper after every meal. This makes the Smart Feed particularly convenient for regular daily feeding and when you're away from home for extended periods during the day.
A secure lid helps prevent curious cats and dogs from gaining easy access to the stored food.
Feed Now – Instant Meals & Snacks
Need to provide an extra meal? Use the Feed Now option in the My PetSafe app or the pet-resistant button on the feeder to dispense food outside the normal feeding schedule.
Optional Battery Backup
The Smart Feed normally operates from its supplied AC power adaptor but also supports backup battery operation. Adding batteries can help the feeder continue operating during a temporary power interruption. Batteries are not included.
Easy-to-Clean Stainless Steel Bowl
The PetSafe Smart Feed includes a stainless steel feeding bowl and bowl holder. The holder helps keep the bowl correctly positioned underneath the food dispenser and makes it harder for enthusiastic pets to push the bowl around while eating.
For easier regular cleaning, the stainless steel bowl, bowl holder, hopper and lid are top-rack dishwasher safe.
Feeding Two Pets?
The PetSafe Smart Feed is also compatible with the PetSafe 2-Pet Meal Splitter, available separately. The splitter directs dispensed food into two bowls, allowing two compatible pets to share a single Smart Feed automatic feeder.

What Wi-Fi network does the Smart Feed require?
A 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n wireless network is required. The feeder does not connect directly to a 5 GHz-only Wi-Fi network.
Can the Smart Feed help with dogs or cats that eat too quickly?
Yes. Slow Feed mode divides eligible meals into smaller portions and dispenses them gradually over approximately 15 minutes instead of releasing the complete meal at once.
Will the feeder tell me when it is running out of food?
