Dogtra Pathfinder 2 GPS Track & Train System
The Dogtra Pathfinder 2 is a serious GPS dog tracking and remote training system for hunting dogs, working dogs, farm dogs and large-property use. It combines live GPS tracking, e-collar training, offline maps and GPS fence modes through the Dogtra Pathfinder 2 app.
It is best suited to larger, active dogs from approximately 15kg and up where distance, visibility and control matter.
Track, train and manage your dog from your phone
The Pathfinder 2 uses a GPS receiver collar on the dog, a GPS Connector carried by the handler, and the free Dogtra Pathfinder 2 app on your compatible smartphone. The collar communicates with the connector, while your phone gives you a detailed map view and training controls.
This makes it different from a standard remote training collar. You are not just sending commands to the collar; you can see where your dog is, how far away they are, the direction they are moving, and where they have been.
The system is designed for real outdoor use where a dog may be working out of sight, running through scrub, moving across paddocks or covering ground at distance.
Best suited for
- Hunting dogs and working dogs
- Farm and rural property use
- Large dogs over 15kg
- Handlers who need GPS tracking and e-collar control in one system
- Multi-dog tracking with additional Pathfinder 2 collars
- Off-lead hiking, field work and property management
Key performance features
Live GPS tracking
See your dog’s position, movement and distance on your phone using the Pathfinder 2 app.
Long-distance range
Designed for distance tracking and training in open outdoor environments.
2-second update
Fast refresh rate (adjustable) for near real-time dog location updates when tracking movement.
Expandable system
Track and train up to 21 dogs with compatible additional collars.
Precise stimulation
0–100 levels of low to high electric stimulation give fine control for matching the correction to the dog and situation.
Offline maps
Download map areas before heading out so tracking can continue without mobile service.
Locate light
Helps visually locate your dog in low light, long grass, bush or heavy cover.
Waterproof system
Rechargeable waterproof collar and connector for demanding outdoor use.
E-collar training functions
The Pathfinder 2 includes Dogtra’s remote training functions, allowing you to communicate with your dog while tracking their location.
- Nick stimulation: brief momentary stimulation for clear, quick cues.
- Constant stimulation: continuous stimulation while pressed, for specific training situations.
- Pager vibration: non-static vibration cue.
- Audible tone: sound cue for recall or conditioned training commands.
- LED locate light: improves visibility in low light or dense cover.
- 0–100 levels: fine adjustment for different dogs, drive levels and environments.
Offline maps and no subscription fees
The Pathfinder 2 app allows you to download maps before leaving home. This is useful for rural properties, hunting areas, bush tracks and locations where mobile reception is poor or unreliable.
There are no ongoing app subscription fees. You still need a compatible smartphone, and for longer trips it is sensible to carry a charged power bank because GPS mapping can use phone battery.
How the Pathfinder 2 system works
GPS collar tracks the dog
The receiver collar is worn by the dog and provides GPS tracking, training functions, vibration, tone and LED locate light.
Connector links collar to phone
The GPS Connector is carried by the handler and communicates between the collar and your smartphone.
App displays tracking and controls
The Pathfinder 2 app gives you map view, dog location, settings, training controls and GPS fence options.
GPS fence modes
The Pathfinder 2 includes GPS fence-style functions. These can be useful for temporary outdoor boundaries, but they are not the same as a permanent wired dog fence.
E-Fence
Creates a fixed GPS boundary. When enabled, the collar can correct the dog if they cross the boundary.
Can correctGeo-Fence
Creates a fixed GPS boundary and sends a notification if the dog exits the selected area.
Alert onlyMobile Fence
Creates a moving radius around your smartphone location while you move through open areas.
Moving alert zoneGPS boundaries can shift slightly depending on satellite signal, terrain, tree cover, structures and whether the collar has clear sky access. For permanent home containment, a wired electric dog fence is usually more accurate and consistent.
Dog fit and sizing
The full-size Pathfinder 2 is a larger GPS receiver collar and is best suited to medium-large and large dogs. For smaller dogs, the Pathfinder 2 Mini may be more appropriate.

Things To Consider
- Mobile Device Requirements - IOS 14.0 or later or Android 7.0 or later. Must have Bluetooth 5.0 or later. Make sure to keep the app up to date.
- *The maximum range will be impacted by your surroundings. Tall buildings, steel structures or going underground will reduce the range of the GPS signal.
- **The E-Fence option cannot be used indoors. Not recommended for areas under 1000m2 (1/4 acre) Do not use this as a permanent fence soulution as your dog can still cross the Outer Fence. Previous training is required to train your dog to come back over the outer fence.
