How It Works
The system creates a wireless circular boundary centred around the control station. As your dog approaches the edge, the collar issues a warning tone or vibration. If the boundary is reached, a correction is applied based on your selected settings. Once your dog returns to the safe zone, collar corrections stop immediately.

Compared to traditional wired systems, the Dogtra Smart Fence eliminates installation time and infrastructure. There’s no trenching, no wire breaks, and no ongoing maintenance. It’s particularly effective for renters, temporary setups, or properties where digging isn’t practical.
- Signal Interference: Large metal objects, structures, or dense materials within the boundary area can interfere with signal consistency and reduce accuracy.
- Boundary Shape: The system only creates a circular boundary. It cannot be customised to follow fences, garden beds, or irregular property lines.
- Maximum Coverage: Limited to approximately 3/4 acre. The range adjustment has 5 levels (see table below).
- Dog Capacity: Supports a maximum of 2 dogs.

Training & Usage
This system is not a “set and forget” solution. Proper training is required to ensure your dog understands and respects the boundary. The training flags and the included training guide provide a structured approach, but consistency and supervision during the initial training period are essential.
For best results, the control station should be mounted in an elevated, open area, away from obstructions. This helps maintain a stable signal and ensures a more consistent boundary.
